Conservative hold (regain after defection, confirming previous by-election gain)

A by-election was held for the Annandale North ward of Dumfries and Galloway Council on 17 November 2016 following the resignation of Labour Cllr Graeme Tait, elected as a Conservative at a previous by-election held on 15 November 2012 (covered here), shortly before he was due to be disqualified for non-attendance.

Douglas Fairbairn held the seat for the Conservatives.
